Porcelain Inlays and Onlays
Norfolk, Hampton, Portsmouth,Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, VA
Porcelain inlays and onlays are a made of specially formulated dental porcelain that is custom fabricated to fill in damaged or decayed sections of tooth.
Similar to white composite fillings, porcelain inlays and onlays blend in seamlessly with your natural tooth, so your smile is as beautiful as it is healthy.
Inlay vs. onlay
The difference between an inlay and an onlay is that an inlay covers only the top, or biting surface of your tooth; while an onlay extends down one or more sides of the tooth.
The procedure
Porcelain inlays and onlays are completed in two stages.
First, any decay or previous filling material is cleared away, and your tooth is prepared. Then, we will make a precise custom mold of your tooth, and fit you with a temporary inlay or onlay until your next appointment.
At your next appointment with us, we will remove your temporary inlay or onlay and permanently attach your new one. This is a quick, painless procedure, and you should feel little discomfort at all.
