Your smile care doesn’t need to be extremely wasteful! However, if you’ve been doing things one way for a long time, you may not know what to do about making little changes, so you’re doing your part to protect our environment. Since this is something we take into consideration, too, we are more than happy to share some helpful advice.
Use A Glass, Not Paper Cups
Do you use a paper cup full of water during dental hygiene, so you can rinse? Consider using a glass that you keep clean instead. This will help you avoid tossing paper products into the trash can twice a day!
Smile: We Offer Digital Imaging
The good news regarding your decision to come to our practice if you’re interested in practicing green smile care is the fact that we offer digital imaging. You may not have given this much thought before! Fortunately, choosing to take X-rays through digital means instead of the conventional means results in the following:
- Everything is on a computer, so we don’t need to use film that will later become a waste product
- We don’t rely on the use of chemicals for processing (that end up released into the environment) because the imaging is all digital!
- We are releasing much less radiation with the digital approach (up to a 90 percent reduction)
Check Out Green Resources
Bet you didn’t know there are programs that give you the opportunity to recycle your electric toothbrush and its batteries, your manual toothbrush, and even packaging from smile care products. It’s true! A quick search online (or a conversation with us) will help you locate these options in our community, so you can do your best to minimize waste!
