Mysteries can be lots of fun, but not if they leave you wondering “What will happen?” Dental examinations take place every day, and although each one is different, they share some traits in common. If you are a new patient, we will get to know you. If you are a returning patients, the twice yearly exams give us a chance to say hello and make sure your oral health is good and that your teeth are as healthy and beautiful as possible.
We Find Out What’s New
Dental exams give you a chance to tell us what’s new. Did you change medication? Are you expecting a baby? Are you sleeping well? Does your partner report your snoring has gotten worse? Be sure to let us know about changes in your life.
We Might Take Pictures
Dental technology is always at our fingertips. Digital X-rays allow us to see what is going on under your gums and around your jaw. We may not take them at every appointment, but we will take them as often as needed. Digital X-rays are safer, faster, and easier to store and share than traditional X-rays ever were.
We Clean Your Teeth
While good home care (and by that, we mean brushing and flossing) is required for good oral health, dental technicians have the tools to remove tartar and thoroughly clean and polish your teeth. We will take the time to use our intraoral camera to help peek around and behind teeth, to make sure all surfaces are clean and healthy.
We Watch For Trouble
A dental examination also includes checking for signs of oral cancer, orthodontic issues, lumps, bumps or anything else that might mean trouble in the future.
