Take a Hike

The Virginia Beach community has so many hiking trails you and your family can take advantage of! You can see wildlife refuges, state parks, and miles of beaches and other habitats. You can take on the six-mile Cape Henry Trail at the First Landing State Park, with paths for both hikers and cyclists. The Bald Cypress Trail is a 1.6-mile loop with wildflowers and a platform overlooking the wetlands, great for dogs and people alike (but keep them leashed!). Pleasant House Point Natural Area takes you on a one to two hour tour of maritime forests, beaches, and marshlands. These are more options, you can find more right here.

Go Kayaking

There are so many places to kayak in the community, such as The Narrows in First Landing State Park, the Back Bay in the Back Bay Wildlife Refuge, and there are even places to explore the Atlantic Ocean. You also go fishing and take a tour with a guide. You can also explore Chesapeake Bay. This is a laid back and enjoyable way to take in some of the wildest sights in the area. Find out more here.
